Once again transfer deadline day is living up to the hype - in terms of rumours so far, if not actual deals. Fans up and down the country, and indeed around the world, are sweating on what is going to happen to their own favourites.
At the time of writing - and stories are updating by the minute - the three biggest stories involve Liverpool. The Suarez transfer looks like it is a done deal. However, latest news reports suggest that Liverpool have made a renewed bid of £35 million for Andy Carroll of Newcastle United. We wait to see if this is enough to tempt Mike Ashley into incurring the wrath of Geordie fans and accepting the offer.
Any deal for Carroll would have implications for Fernando Torres who is the subject of an offer from Chelsea. Liverpool have rejected an initial offer of £35 million, but rumours indicate that they would accept a bid of £50 million.
Both deals would break the current British transfer record.
One thing that is certain. By the close of business tonight, there will be plenty of fans disappointed at players that have been sold, signed and missed out on. Already, as it looks like Carrol may well be heading to Liverpool, there are Liverpool fans stating that Carrol is being over valued while Newcastle fans are upset at selling him at any price.
Whatever happens, we all need to reserve judgement until everything is done and dusted. It is not just about who leaves your club, but about who comes in as a replacement. This transfer window looks like it could well be the craziest of all in terms of transfer values and money spent.
Like everyone else, all we can do is watch and wait.....
